Jessie Murph’s High-Profile Collaborations With Jelly Roll And Maren Morris Helped Take Her Career To The Next Level

Jessie Murph signed to Columbia Records in 2021 when she was only 17-years-old, and released her debut album, That Ain’t No Man That’s The Devil, on September 6. The now 20-year-old rising star’s career was aided by viral success on TikTok and YouTube, as well as working with two country superstars, Jelly Roll and Maren Morris, on a pair of her early hit singles. Morris is featured on Murph’s tune, “Texas,” which was the first collaboration for the young singer. “I’ve always been such a huge fan of her ever since I was little,” Murph said. “I wrote “Texas,” and she’s from there, and then she ended up getting on the song. It was the most surreal thing ever.” Murph became friends with Jelly after duetting with him on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” at his show, and he contributed vocals on her 3x-platinum single, “Wild Ones.” “I thought it would be such a crazy combo of sounds,” Murph recalls. “Then I went to the studio with him and he made his verse. The rest is history.” (People)
