The 2013 Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival will take place October 18th-20th at the corner of Highway 85 North and College Boulevard in Niceville, Florida.  Celebrating its 37th year, the Mullet Festival promises an exciting weekend the whole family will enjoy.  Peruse gorgeous and unique handmade arts & crafts.  Delight your taste buds with mullet, gator, shark, stir fry, gyros, onion blossoms, boiled peanuts and so much more.  Get up-close and personal with an array of reptiles in the Army Rangers’ tent.  The little ones are sure to have a rip-roaring time at the clown stage, and kids of all ages can enjoy a variety of exhilarating rides and games, with armbands available daily to allow the most bang for your buck.  The Mullet Festival is perhaps best known for bringing big-name entertainment to Niceville, and this year’s lineup is no exception.

Friday’s slate of performances will be capped off by Country hit-maker Justin Moore.  Songs like Small Town USA, If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away, Backwoods and ‘Til My Last Day have made him a mainstay on Country radio.  Moore’s third album, Off the Beaten Path, is set for release on September 17th, and he is adding another hit to his resume with the record’s lead single, Point at You

Headlining Saturday night is the reigning ACM and CMA Top Vocal Duo Thompson Square, who recently released their second album Just Feels Good.  Husband and wife Keifer and Shawna Thompson topped the charts with their second single, Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not, and also reached #1 with If I Didn’t Have You.  Currently climbing the charts is their latest single, Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About.

Go Rest High on that Mountain, Look at Us, Threaten Me with Heaven, Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away, and I Still Believe in You are just a handful from a vast catalog of hits from the unmistakable voice of Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill, who will close out the festival on Sunday evening.  On his new album Bakersfield, the 20-time Grammy winner  teams up with famed steel guitarist Paul Franklin to pay homage to the “Bakersfield Sound” with the songs of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens.

Also appearing are The Swon Brothers, Blackjack Billy, The Isaacs, Ben Portsmouth & the Taking Care of Elvis Band, Doctor Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster, the Tayo Reed Band and 2011 winner of the Mullet Festival Singing Showdown, Parker Willingham.

Are you The Voice of Boggy Bayou?  Tryouts for 5th Mullet Festival Singing Showdown will take place Thursday, September 26th from 5-8pm and Saturday, September 28th from 9am-1pm at the Niceville Community Center.  A $25 entry fee is due upon audition.  Judges will choose 5 finalists to compete live on stage Friday, October 18th for a $500 cash prize and an opportunity to perform Saturday night.  Visit our website for entry forms and more details.
